Can't sleep without you.....

There are two reasons that can render me sleepless at night. One is having too much to think and the other, not having my other 'love' on my bed - my
bolster!

Yes, I am a middle aged woman and I still need my bolster. My bolster is affectionately referred to as 'lap cheong' (meaning sausage because it's long and straight in shape) in our family. I have had this 'lap cheong' with me for about five years now. It's no longer as 'solid' as before and in fact, pretty much out of shape but who cares - I still need my bolster as much as I did from the time I was born!

I usually sleep on my side and with my arms around the bolster, I feel comforted and relaxed. I guess that's how babies must feel when they have a bolster between their legs and their arms wrapped around one, eh? I am so used to sleeping with a bolster that whenever I have to sleep in a hotel, I always need an extra pillow as a subsitute for a bolster, just so that I can fall asleep!

A few days ago, my colleague was telling me that her sister who was returning to Australia after a holiday here, had to pack a bolster home because it's not something that is sold over there. And she, like me, is one of those who cannot sleep without a bolster at night. Her old one at home has to be replaced and hence, she's flying a new one back with her.

Does anyone else have this same need for a bolster just like us?

Yes, yes, yes! Here is one - bolster is a must, and an extra pillow in hotel is the first thing I would ask when I check in if I can't find an extra one in the cupboard :)

Jomel,
I also have a human bolster but I still need the more rounded one, if you know what I mean. ;) hehe.

Yan,
They should introduce bolsters as an optional service in hotels, yah!

I have a baby bolster - u know the type that you give babies to hug for security? I've had it for the past 23 years already. Have only changed the cover but not the actual bolster itself. Brought it with me to England and back. Can't sleep without it!

Jomel,
hehe, you caught on real fast! ;)

SAHM,
Yay! another one joins the club. :)

Yu Jen,
Hi there! How are you? Haven't heard from you for ages!! Are you back home for good? Write to Aunty Bkworm and tell me all about it. Missed you. :)

For a moment the first half of the entry sounded abit 'wrong'... lol ;Ppp oklah... maybe only for twisted minds like mine. Heh. I used to have an old bolster that I liked... but these days I can make do without one too. When we were kids, I used to be very annoyed by the fact that my little sister *had* to carry hers around wherever we went (holidays, etc). Haha... kids ;p

Know what you mean... I used to be one bolster "fan" too! Except down here you can't find such long "lap cheong" kind, and we had only packed one for Jon. Subsequently, I bought our own cushion/pillow stuffing and stashed it into a bolster case (also brought over from home) to make one for Ben, too! They are working for both boys, but think they are less "reliant" on it was I was!
